New & Improved Course

The Amica Insurance Breakers Marathon covers a rolling course on scenic Newport and Middletown roads. Starting at the Newport Yachting Center on America’s Cup Boulevard, the course runs through some of the most scenic spots on Aquidneck Island, including historic Thames Street in downtown Newport, around Fort Adams State Park, past Hammersmith Farms and the Newport Country Club, around scenic Brenton Point and Ocean Drive, past the famous Bellevue Mansions, by beautiful ocean views along Surfers Beach and Second Beach, through the Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, along the Norman Bird Sanctuary, through the quiet back country roads of Indian Avenue, past majestic Saint Georges Academy, before finishing at Easton’s Beach.

This improved route debuted succesfully in 2007. It begins at Newport's waterfront and offers even more of the scenic views "the Ocean State" is known for. The course is USATF certified and a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.

Please see Course Description page for additional details about the race course.
